Advance Diploma Course (ADC)

Eligibility Criteria
The candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination (Diploma in Metallurgical/Mechanical/Production Engineering/B. Sc. degree with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics). Relaxed criteria of 45% marks will be applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ST category.

Admission is based on advertisement published in Institute web site from time to time. Admissions to different ADC courses may be recommended solely based on performance in the written test.

Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.)

Institute offers B.Tech courses in following disciplines.

Admission to all disciplines will be made in the Autumn Semester of each session at the First Year level through JEE (Main), the counseling for which is done by Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB). There shall be no opportunity of a change of branch mid-way during the programme.

Besides the successful JEE candidates, a specified number of foreign nationals selected under the policy laid down by the Government of India may be admitted directly to the 1st year of any of the programmes covered by these regulations. At present foreign nationals selected under DASA.

In each course, seats shall be reserved as per prevalent Government of India norms.

Master of Technology (M.Tech)

Institute offer full time, residential M.Tech course in following disciplines.

(b) M. Sc. In Materials Science and Engineering: (Physics /Chemistry/Materials Science.

The candidates must have secured a minimum of 60% marks OR a CGPA of 6.5 (out of 10.0) in the qualifying examination (B. E. / B. Tech. / B. Sc. Engg. or equivalent). Relaxed criteria of 55% marks OR a CGPA of 6.0 (out of 10.0) will be applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ST category.

In each course, seats shall be reserved as per prevalent Government of India norms.

Category of Students

Regular Students (GATE qualified): Candidates with valid GATE score and meeting the eligibility requirements. They are eligible for financial assistance as per the rules. Admission through CCMT.

Regular Students (Self-sponsored): These candidates will have to appear in the written test conducted by the Institute. They are not eligible for any financial assistance from the Institute.

Regular Students (Sponsored): Candidates who are permanently employed in reputed R&D organizations, companies associated with design and/or manufacturing of engineering products and reputed engineering colleges and polytechnics, may apply for the admission in under this category. The candidates for admission under this category will be required to apply through their employer.

Doctor of Philosophy

Institute offers doctoral research programmes leading to the award of Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Engineering and Science in the following departments:
     (a) Department of Forge Technology
     (b) Department of Foundry Technology
     (c) Department of Manufacturing Engineering
     (d) Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering
     (e) Department of Applied Science and Humanities

Category of Research Scholars

     (a) Full-time Research Scholars with Scholarship
     (b) Full-time Research Scholars without Scholarship 
     (c) Full-time Research Scholars sponsored by Industries
     (d) Part-time Research Scholars from Institute Faculty/Staff

Eligibility for Admission

The minimum educational qualifications required for admission to PhD programmes in Engineering and Science is one of the following: 
(a) M.E. / M. Tech. from a recognized institution or university in the relevant discipline, with at least 6.5 CGPA (or 60% Marks) in aggregate. 
(b) B.E./ B. Tech. in the relevant discipline or MCA from a recognized institution of university, with at least 7.5 CGPA (or 70% marks) in aggregate. 
(c) M. Sc. or equivalent from a recognized institution of university in relevant discipline with at least 7.5 CGPA (or 70% marks) in aggregate.

For candidates belonging to SC/ST category, a relaxation of 0.5 CGPA (or 5% marks) is allowed in the minimum requirement. 

The faculty and Staff/ members of the Institute, who satisfy the eligibility, criteria may be considered for admission the PhD programme as Part-time Research Scholar subject to a no-objection certificate from the Institute. They shall work for their PhD programme while discharging their normal duties. 

Apart from required qualifications and academic record, the research aptitude, ability to work in team, subject interest, availability of research supervisors and facilities available and research focus of the concerned department will be considered by the DRC while selecting the candidates.
